The final column, "net change," shows the difference between the day's closing and the previous day's closing. General Motors, for instance, opened at 46¼ and closed at 47¾, up 1½ points. The net change, however, is plus 1…ž. This means that the stock closed the previous day at 45…ž”and that it was up three eighths on the first sale of the day reported in the list.
